Finding a decent, affordable home in Corvallis shouldn’t be a battle. Yet skyrocketing rents, predatory fees, and unfair evictions push families to the brink.
A Tenant Bill of Rights is our solution: essential rights that establish a baseline of tenant protections in the rental housing market. These policies will establish protections to ensure safe, stable, and dignified housing for all.
- Ban junk fees (like inflated application charges)
- Cap unfair deposits (so moving in doesn’t bankrupt us)
- Shield vulnerable renters (like students and families)
- Stop landlords from stripping tenants’ legal rights
This is how we hold landlords accountable and put power back in renters’ hands.

FAQs
Why a Tenant Bill of Rights?
A Tenant Bill of Rights is a clear statement of the rights and responsibilities that tenants and landlords can expect when they rent in Corvallis.
Are you affiliated with national movements?
No – we are a group of local residents. This is a volunteer-run, grassroots campaign. Our organizers are home owners and renters who passionately believe that housing is a human right.
What about landlords rights?
Landlords are protected by the Bill of Rights too! The TBoR helps increase knowledge of legal code for both tenants and landlords. This lowers a landlord’s legal risk. It simplifies contract creation.
